About Lloydminster

Straddling the border between Alberta and Saskatchewan, Lloydminster is a known as “Canada’s Border City”. With a population of just under 30,000, it manages to possess a small-town charm while being the bustling seat of industry for the region. Like many cities in this part of Canada, Lloydminster’s economy is driven by the thriving oil and gas industry, although it still holds to agricultural roots in many ways.

In 2014, Lloydminster was selected as the host city for CBC’s annual Hockey Day in Canada event. This honour is a testament to our city’s dedication to the game of hockey and the many Lloydminster-bred NHL stars including Scott Hartnell, Wade Redden and Braden Holtby.
